Pricing and Billing
Persistent Storage, powered by Backblaze, is in Beta. Account owners and admins can join under Settings → Profile, or by ticking Join the beta program at signup. They can leave it the same way, under Settings → Profile. See Overview.
Storage is charged per GB stored per month from your account balance, metered every minute. Downloads, including reads from the mounted storage on your instance, beyond 3x your average stored data per month are $0.05/GB.
Persistent Storage has two charges: the data you store, and downloads above a free allowance. Uploads are not charged. Both come out of the same account balance as your instances. See Billing Overview.

A GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes.
Storage
- You pay for the total data stored across all your storage.
- A month is 730 hours. 1 GB stored for one hour costs $0.085 / 730, about $0.000116.
- The charge is taken from your balance every minute, the same as instances. Fractions of a cent carry over to the next minute.
- You pay for storage whether or not any instance is running. Storage with data in it is billed until it is deleted.
- The stored amount is updated about once a day, so it can lag up to a day behind.
- Each day is charged at the most data you stored that day. Data you delete stops being charged from the next day.
Example: you keep 100 GB for a full month. 100 × $0.085 = $8.50.
Downloads (egress)
Every byte read out of your storage counts as a download. That includes reading files from /persistent on your own instances, not just downloads to your computer.
- Each UTC calendar month, you get free downloads equal to 3x your average stored GB for that month.
- The average runs from the first to the last day you had data stored that month. Days inside that window with nothing stored count as 0 GB.
- Downloads above the free amount cost $0.05 per GB.
- Overage is charged daily: once a day it is worked out for the month so far, and any new amount is charged to your balance. Amounts are rounded down to the whole cent.
- Overage already charged is never refunded, even if your average goes up later in the month and the free amount grows.
- The free amount resets at the start of each UTC month.
Example: your average this month is 100 GB stored, so your first 300 GB of downloads are free. You download 350 GB. You pay for 50 GB: 50 × $0.05 = $2.50.
Low balance
Storage and download charges count toward your balance like instance charges. Auto-recharge and low-balance rules apply the same way. See Billing Overview.
